New Album!

Seems about time for an update. Things are busy with EM right now. We're in the middle of recording all our pre-production tracks for the new record that will be released before the end of the year... that is a GUARANTEE. The new album will be a whole new kind of release for us. Due to the fact that things are changing with the free distribution of high-quality music on the internet, we wanted to take the leap forward and rethink our manufacturing techniques. The new album will not be a conventional CD release, we feel that traditional CD's have run their course and its about time we enhanced our distribution methods. We've got some big plans for making the release something special, more details to follow.... but think "Choose Your Own Adventure".
The new album will still be available in a hardcopy format like all the rest, but this time around we'll be doing it differently by offering kick-ass customizable artwork and packaging that YOU get to choose and put together through an interactive page on our website, once you've chosen your custom artwork and package design we'll send you out a full studio quality CD made to your specifications. So this time around you're actually getting more bang for your buck by receiving customized packaging and a studio-quality audio disc. There will also be bonus tracks only available when you purchase the custom designed packaging from us. And as with all our other releases, the new album will also be avaiable completely electronically through online stores minus the bonus tracks available from our website only.
In other news, we just played a cool little Stoner Rock Festival here in Toronto on 4/20. We've been working out the new songs live and close to half the set were songs off the upcoming release. Heres a review of the show that appeared on the tornotoindie.com website: http://www.torontoindie.com/?p=287
We'll be playing an all-ages show in Georgetown with LOA on Saturday June 14. Show details will be posted on our myspace page soon.
Well, our Jam series disc set has taken a bit of a back burner, although you can expect it (hopefully sooner than later). In better news, we are working on what is becoming the DOOMIEST MAGMA album yet!!! If you catch us on our tour, you will likely hear a couple of the tracks. In case you haven't checked out our TOUR section yet, make sure you do, and come and help us out while on the road! Thanks again to Against Nature for setting up this REALLY heavy tour!! We are gonna have SOOOO much fun!!!!!
Well its official now! We'll be heading down to the States in the first week of November to reek havoc in as many US cities as we can fit in!! We've been invited down by our good friends Against Nature to do a quasi-cross country trek ending off at none other than the legendary SHoD FESTIVAL in Mesa, Arizona. We'll be playing shows from Nov. 3rd to Nov. 10th in: Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque and Mesa, AZ (SHoD Festival). These shows are being booked now, and as soon as we have final confirmation and details on venues and line-ups we'll be posting all the info right here. So for any of our American fans, this has been a LONG time coming and who knows if/when it will happen again... make sure to get your asses out to these shows. We'll be tearing up the stage like our lives depend on it. Looking forward to bringing our style of Canadian sludge down south. CHEERS.... and stay tuned for more details as they come in.
You may not know it to look at them, but Canada's Electric Magma is a study in contradictions. Their music causes contact highs, yet the lads claim to indulge only in booze, specifically beer.

The new CD has been out for a couple months now and we've been busy promoting it and doing all that fun behind-the-scenes stuff. But we also managed to get our asses down to Baltimore Maryland this past weekend to play the 3-Day Doom or Be Doomed festival. All I can say is that it was one hell of a weekend. Starting with the 10 hour drive from Toronto to Baltimore, followed up by our rental car being broken into the first night we were there, then arriving at the show only moments before our set time (with almost no time to chug copious amounts of beer before our set). But I gotta tell you, once we hit the stage... all the crap we went through to get there seemed to fade away. Its rare that we get the opportunity to play in front of a crowd that TRULY digs the brand of sludge rock Electric Magma delivers... but let me tell you, the people in Baltimore were eating it up. It was worth the 20+ hour round trip on the road. I'd do it again in a second. We'll be posting a bunch of pics from the weekend soon.... we would have posted more but the asshole who broke into our car stole the camera we had the majority of the pictures on. oh well theres this thing called KARMA and it has a tendency to bite the asses of petty thieves, so we're not losing any sleep over it.
In other news... we're in the process of booking a summer mini-tour of the east coast!! We cant wait to get back out there again, our last trip to Halifax and back (with all stops in between) was nothing short of amazing... we cant wait to do it again.
We're also in the process of finishing up the first volume of our six volume jam series CDs. This will be very cool. They will be limited edition releases in really cool packaging, unlike anything we've done before. These will be official "unoffical" releases... we're doing a VERY LIMITED number of copies.... there will only be 50-100 of each volume made... after that... you'll be out of luck. More details to follow soon.
Coconut Bangers Ball, the much anticipated fourth release from instro sludge kings Electric Magma is now available! Clocking in at just over 30 minutes, Coconut Bangers Ball is a swift, high-energy assault to your riff rock senses. This evolutionary release not only introduces a new element of speed and vitality to Electric Magmas classic riffage, it also sees the addition of vocals on select tracks courtesy of Paolo Rizzo (puddy, red elite). The CD is available for purchase through this website as well as stonerrock.com, and in digital form, through all standard music download sites.
